“New Zealand has an impressive start-up scene and generates many opportunities for Silicon Valley investors and corporates. I was impressed with the quality of the companies and their technologies when selecting them for the showcase. Many of the companies already have good traction in the US market and are looking to accelerate their growth,” said Reichert.
Technology is New Zealand’s fastest growing, highest per-capita earning industry, with a focus on innovations as diverse as wireless infrastructure, transport and logistics technologies, digital content, and telecommunications.
The New Zealand companies selected to take part in the investment showcase:
- Composite Helicopter: Composite Helicopters International is the manufacturer of the world’s first all composite frameless (monocoque) helicopter kitset, the KC518 Adventourer. The company’s KC518 is a 5/6 seat, turbine, composite helicopter. The prototype is currently in flight testing phase. The patented design is a low cost, rapid build, carbon kevlar hybrid.
- EROAD: EROAD is a fully integrated technology, tolling and services company. Its technology and transaction gateway was developed to modernize New Zealand's road user charges (RUC) regime for trucks and light diesel vehicles. EROAD is the fastest growing technology company in Australasia, ranked tenth on the Deloitte Technology Fast 500 Asia Pacific 2012.
- Green Button: GreenButton provides middleware that help transition software vendors & their applications to the cloud. GreenButton allows both the vendor and their customers benefit from the cloud, by providing all the components to sell, support and deliver a cloud solution with minimal risk and effort.
- Lypanosys: Lypanosys is a drug development company that is developing a convenient, safe and effective ORAL treatment for Eczema that key opinion leaders agree is likely to quickly become part of the first line standard of care treatment regime for Eczema patients.
- Pacific Edge: Pacific Edge develops and commercializes novel diagnostic and prognostic tests for the early detection and management of cancer. The company has recently completed its first commercial product, Cxbladder - a bladder cancer detection test, and is embarking on a roll-out of this product in the US market following successful launches in NZ and Australia.
- Polybatics: PolyBatics is a development stage biotechnology company that is developing tools to reduce the cost and complexity of biologicals manufacturing. Polybatics has a manufacturing platform that allows them to produce in vivo low cost, high performance beads covered with engineered proteins.
- Showcase: Showcase Software provides an intuitive and elegant solution to data asset management for mobile devices. Showcase enables users to make a secure sales presentation app for iPads (and Android) in minutes using videos, PowerPoints, PDFs, photos and documents using existing collateral.
- STQRY: STQRY (pronounced "story") is a web and mobile platform that helps people all over the world to explore, engage with, and discover fascinating stories. The STQRY app is currently being used in San Francisco during the America’s Cup.
- Transcribe Me: TranscribeMe provides a breakthrough transcription service through its hybrid platform, which combines speech processing technology with crowd-sourced human transcribers all over the world.
